Foundation Awards > The Ferox Hall Award
Ferox Hall has set up its own Foundation Awards scheme, led by a committee comprising Chris Cotton (1955-59), Martin Colvill (1954-58), James Stewart (1956-61) and Johnny Aisher (1974-79).
Ferox is the third house to set up its own Award - Judde House and Hillside already have schemes in place. But the Ferox Award is a different funding model, one where support is channelled directly into school fees, rather than accumulating in an endowment fund (we're calling this the 'pay-as-you-go' approach).
You can download a leaflet about the Ferox Hall Foundation Award.
The aim is to make our first award by 2010. After this we hope to work quickly to the point where we can make another place available. After five years we should be at the point where we have at least three Foundationers in the House. Ultimately, our aim is to fund a new place each year (i.e. five Foundationers at any one time).
As above, we aim to support boys directly with the money raised (rather than creating an endowment and using the investment income from this). This means that our funds will go further, though the stream of income will need to continue into the future. For instance, 20 individuals contributing £50 each month with Gift Aid will provide for 50% of a Foundationer's fees. As the school is currently offering to cover half the fees, this is enough for a 100% award (though we believe that in all but the harshest financial situations parents should contribute something towards their son's education). But, as above, our ambition is to fund more than one place at a time; and with over 650 contactable Old Ferocians, parents and past parents we believe we can do this.
And over time, with the benefit of legacies and any surplus over and above the fees we pay, we will begin to build an endowment sum, which will make our scheme ever more sustainable.

We need donations to support this scheme. If you are a friend of the House - an OT, parent or past parent - and you share our belief that what Ferox has to offer is so good it should be shared a little more widely (and that this in turn will benefit the House), then please give - the more supporters who join in, the more boys we can help.
